Donate A Used Car To A Used Car Donation Center

Posted on Monday 17 August 2009

Do you have a used car that you no longer use and don’t think you can get a lot of money for? Maybe you have a used car that doesn’t even run and is just sitting around at your house becoming an eye sore.  f so, you should seek out a used car donation center. When you donate a used car you will be helping a person without a car who is unable to afford one, to make a major change in their life with your selfless donation.

Almost every major city has a used car donation center. In fact, if your town has a Red Cross they may be able to take your used car off your hands. You can simply contact your local courthouse and ask them to put you in touch with a used car donation center in your area. They can provide you with information that will direct you as to where you can donate a used car.

When contacting a used car donation center you should be very open and honest with them. Tell them the specific condition of your car and see if they are interested in the donation. In most cases, if you donate a used car that doesn’t run, the used car donation center will cover the expenses of towing and will come and get the car from your place of storage.

Additionally, when you donate a used car you will also receive a receipt for your donation. At the end of the tax year you can use this receipt to “write off” your donation on your taxes. This is one thing that many people never consider when they think about used car donation. However, when you donate a used car you will be helping others and yourself when it comes to tax time.
