When you donate your car to charity you will find that not only will you feel good about yourself, but you will also receive a receipt for your donation which you can then use at tax time.  This is great news for anyone who is looking to do a little good, but is also looking to receive an insensitive for their kindness.

Vehicle donation is an ever growing popular trend in the United States.   This is due to the fact that so many American’s have used or broken down cars that they know they won’t get a lot of money for.  But with vehicle donation they can have a donation center come to their residence and pick up their vehicle.  Additionally, when you donate your car, you will discover that most donation centers will even accept cars that are no longer running.

To donate your car you will first need to contact a vehicle donation center in your town or area.  If you have a local Red Cross they can provide you with vehicle donation information.  In fact, the majority of Red Cross agencies in the United States operate vehicle donation centers.

When you donate your car and it is picked up at your home or you drop it off at a vehicle donation center, you will receive a receipt from the donation center based on the worth of your vehicle donation.   You will need to keep this receipt handy and present it to your tax preparer at tax time.  They can then use this receipt to mark off your vehicle donation as a charitable donation.

There is no greater feeling in the world than knowing that you have helped out another person in need.  This feeling is even better when you know that you are also receiving a tax break for your charitable donation.  With vehicle donation you receive the best of both worlds.  You will change a families life and will also receive an excellent tax deduction come tax season.  Additionally, you won’t have to fork over money to transport your car to a vehicle donation center or to have it towed if its not running.  Most vehicle charities cover all of these expenses for you.
