Donate A Car: Get Your Freedom

Posted on Wednesday 17 March 2010

You are finally free. Perhaps you are retired and find yourself with far fewer responsibilities and appointments to keep. You are enjoying your free time. You have taken up a hobby and are finding life very satisfying. There is one thing that is bugging you though and that is that second car that is sitting in the garage. At one time it was very valuable and allowed you and your household to meet all those appointments.

However now it is not needed. What to do with it? A great option would be to donate it to a charity. On the surface this might not seem like the best way to get rid of a car. Sure it gets off your hands and it goes to a good cause, however it does not provide any other benefit to you. You do not get any cash if you just give the car away and if you have bills to pay and other such expenses, this can be a big concern.

You might want to support a charity with your car but cannot just give it away. However it is not accurate to say that you do not receive any monetary benefit from donating. By donating a car to charity you get to claim it as a tax deduction, leaving you with a very real benefit in the end.  You may realize this but are not sure how to go about accomplishing this. A place that can help is Cars Helping America.

They support over 80 charities and are committed to ensuring that you and your charity receive the maximum amount of money for your car. They first determine which place your car will sell for the most at and then oversee the sale of the car. In this way, everyone comes out ahead in the end. In addition they do not charge you for donating the car nor for any towing that has to happen. With donation sites in all 50 states and in hundreds of cities all across the country, they make it extremely convenient to work with them to donate a car to the charity of your choosing.
