A Better Chance Masconomet

A Better Chance Masconomet, Inc. is a residential educational program serving academically motivated, minority students. The larger ABC National organization began in 1963 and our program was started in 1974 by local townspeople.

ABC Masconomet is an all-male program with most of the boys coming from the New York/New Jersey area. All attend Masconomet Regional High School. Over 50 graduates have gone on to colleges such as Amherst, Brown, Cornell, Temple and the University of Pennsylvania. The program is run by a resident director, a resident tutor, a cook and a board of directors. All of these people are volunteers.

There is no federal funding of this program. Community fundraisers like the ABC Horse Trials, the ABC Fair, the ABC Tennis Tournament, Kid's Day America, the Annual Auction and the Annual Membership Drive provide the necessary funds to maintain the program.

Through the strength and quality of their education, A Better Chance graduates have achieved success in many professions, making significant contributions in every walk of life.
